Operating your boiler with an optimum amount of excess air will minimize heat loss up the stack and improve combustion efficiency. Combustion efficiency is a measure of how effectively the heat content of a fuel is transferred into usable heat. The stack temperature and flue gas Oxygen (or Carbon Dioxide) concentrations are primary indicators of combustion efficiency.

Typically, reducing O2 in the flue gas by 1 percent- for example, from 5 percent to 4 percent- increases boiler efficiency by about 2.5 percent.

Controlling excess air is the most important tool for managing the energy efficiency and atmospheric emissions of a boiler system.

As graph shows, the effect of air temperature on excess air in the flue gas can be dramatic.



CAT Control System how does it works?
CAT Control System is designed using In-situ Oxygen analyzer and combustion air trimming, which is control by intelligent circuit for maximum optimization of regulating the primary and secondary air by using Variable speed drive of ID/FD fans.

Dharam International offers CAT Control System which uses a special rugged Zirconium Oxide Sensor (ZrO2). This Sensors has faster speed of response and is ideal for online Oxygen measurement in combustion process. It has greater measuring accuracy, durability and longer working life.

How much Fuel saving is possible?
Fuel savings is varies from 3% to 5%. There is also electrical energy saving by auto adjusting speed of ID/FD fans.

Does it control CO and NOx emissions?
Yes, CAT Control System keeps the combustion air in optimum efficiency zone. The intelligent control circuit reduces NOx and CO, and also reduces the loss in flue gases which is major saving.

Is Oxygen trim worth the price?
The amount of oxygen in the flue gas of a boiler indicates how much excess air is in the flue gas mixture. The lower the amount of excess air, higher is the boiler efficiency.

Does it require any maintenance?
There is hardly any maintenance expect the ZrO2 cleaning of sensor from time to time using compress air. (Approx. 2 to 3 bar pressure)

Is it applicable in natural gas?
Yes, It can be applicable to Solid, Liquid or Gaseous Fuels.
